The Chattanooga Heart Institute is this region’s only diagnostic, treatment, research and rehabilitation center dedicated solely to cardiovascular care. Our 23 board-certified cardiologists ensure that there is an entire team of highly-skilled specialists to provide patients with care in their particular area of expertise. Our specialties include interventional cardiac catheterization, the treatment of peripheral-vascular disease, electrophysiological treatment of arrhythmia, and non-invasive nuclear diagnostics.

Effective July 3, 2010, Dr. Mitchell Mutter will no longer be with The Chattanooga Heart Institute. After that date, Dr. Mutter will be seeing patients in a private practice located at 979 E. 3rd St., Suite 520. If you would like to remain with Dr. Mutter, you can contact his new office at (423) 778-5661. We will forward copies of your medical records to a physician of your choice upon receipt of a written authorization. If you would like to stay with The Chattanooga Heart Institute, you may choose one of our 23 cardiologists for continuation of your care. At our Erlanger office are Dr. James Hoback, Dr. Stephen Monroe and Dr. Samuel Ledford who would be happy to continue your care. In addition to our Erlanger office, The Chattanooga Heart Institute has three other convenient locations: next door to Memorial Hospital, behind Memorial North Park Hospital, and in Cleveland. Allen E. Atchley, Jr., M.D.
The Chattanooga Heart Institute is pleased to announce that Dr. Allen E. Atchley, Jr. joined our staff of physicians on July 6, 2010. Dr. Atchley is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and also holds specialized board certifications in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He completed his fellowship in cardiology at Duke University Medical Center where he further pursued advanced training with a specialized fellowship in non-invasive cardiovascular imaging. Dr. Atchley also completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Duke. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Memphis with high honors and from Tusculum College in Greenville, TN Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biology.
