Our Imaging Center

The Imaging Department of The Chattanooga Heart Institute is committed to excellence in service to our referring physicians and their patients. We offer echocardiography, nuclear and vascular testing. Our Imaging Department is accredited by ICAEL, Accredited Vascular Laboratories, and ICANL.

Our multi-slice Computed Tomograpy (CT) scanner is one of the first in the region and the only one at a facility dedicated solely to cardiovascular care. This scanner offers amazingly clear, three-dimensional, moving images that can be rotated in any direction and layers of tissue can be visually removed to let physicians peer deeply into the heart and vascular system. Scheduling Cardiac CTs
Your patients will have a short pre-test visit in our CT clinic so that we can explain the test, answer questions, obtain any pre-testing necessary, and give pre-test medications. We are scheduling these not as a regular visit but as a pre-test visit and have allotted slots for this in our CT clinic. Pre-tests are done for pre-medication and pre-certification as well as any necessary lab testing.

We will have cardiac CT patients scheduled for the pre-test visit and the CT itself within 4-5 days of order and are able to get the patient in within one week for a follow-up appointment with a cardiologist to review the results of the test. At the time of the follow-up visit, referring physicians will be mailed results, notes and images.

All other CTs
We are able to perform CTs on any part of the body, not just cardiac CTs. We will pre-cert all CTs. Once pre-certification is received, non-cardiac CTs can usually be done the same day as ordered or the following day.

Results
A team of cardiologists and radiologists will read all cardiac CT exams. For non-cardiac CTs, you will be faxed results within 2 days. For cardiac CTs, you will be mailed results, notes and images on the day of the patient’s follow-up visits, usually within one week after cardiac CT is performed.
